Indigenous Tech Academy

Build First Nations technology careers through the Indigenous Tech Academy

Create meaningful pathways into technology for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander talent while helping build a more representative industry.

Creating more equitable access to technology careers

Australia’s First Nations peoples have a long history of innovation, yet Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people remain underrepresented across the technology industry.

The Indigenous Tech Academy (ITA) was created to help change that.

Established in 2022 through a collaboration between Revolent, PwC’s Indigenous Consulting (PIC) and Salesforce, the ITA creates supported pathways into technology careers for First Nations talent, combining paid learning, practical experience and long-term employment opportunities.

For participating organizations, it provides a practical way to support First Nations representation while contributing to more inclusive and sustainable technology workforces.

Supporting First Nations talent into long-term technology careers

The ITA is designed to create more than an entry point into tech. It provides participants with the support, confidence and practical experience needed to build lasting careers in the industry.

Participants come from a range of backgrounds and career stages, including people entering technology for the first time and those transitioning from other professions.

The focus is on removing barriers to entry and creating opportunities for participants to develop skills in a supported environment before progressing into real technology roles.

A supported pathway from learning to employment

The ITA combines paid technical learning, professional development and practical experience.

As a Workforce Development Partner, Revolent’s training is a paid tech bootcamp, with 60% of training time focused on practical technology tasks and real-world projects before participants begin their work placement.

How the Academy works

1

Hire

We identify Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander talent who are interested in building careers in technology and support them with the training, experience and opportunities needed to get started.

2

Train

Participants complete paid technical and professional learning designed to give them the foundations, confidence and practical skills needed to begin their careers.

3

Deploy

Following their initial learning, participants join an organization where they can apply their knowledge, gain real-world experience and continue developing professionally.

4

Develop

Ongoing support and development help participants build their expertise, confidence and career progression throughout their placement.

5

Convert

At the end of the placement, participants can transition into permanent employment, helping create sustainable, long-term career outcomes.

Create impact that extends beyond a single hire

The ITA is designed to create positive outcomes for individuals, organizations and the wider technology community.

For participants, it opens access to careers that may previously have felt out of reach. For organizations, it provides a meaningful way to support First Nations representation and contribute to a more inclusive technology workforce.

Most importantly, it creates a route to sustainable employment and long-term career progression, helping build representation that lasts.
