VP of Operations

A growing company is seeking a Vice President of Operations to lead multi-site distribution, fabrication, and assembly operations supporting major national retail customers. This executive will be responsible for driving operational excellence across warehousing, fulfillment, manufacturing support, inventory management, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience leading multi-site operations that serve large retail customers and possess a proven track record of improving service levels, inventory accuracy, productivity, and cost performance.

Operations Leadership
- Lead day-to-day operations across multiple distribution, manufacturing support, and assembly facilities.
- Oversee receiving, warehousing, inventory control, assembly, fabrication, packaging, shipping, and fulfillment activities.
- Ensure customer orders are executed accurately and efficiently while meeting retailer requirements and delivery expectations.

Multi-Site Management
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development for site leaders and operations managers.
- Establish consistent operating standards, metrics, and accountability across all facilities.
- Build succession plans and strengthen organizational capabilities.

Workforce Planning & Capacity Management
- Manage labor planning, scheduling, staffing levels, overtime, and temporary workforce needs.
- Align resources to support seasonal demand fluctuations, customer promotions, and operational peaks.
- Optimize facility capacity and throughput while maintaining budget targets.

Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Champion a culture of safety and operational discipline.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety standards and operational procedures.
- Maintain high levels of product quality, shipment accuracy, and customer satisfaction.

Inventory & Performance Management
- Drive inventory accuracy through cycle counts, process discipline, and root-cause analysis.
- Improve material flow, warehouse utilization, and productivity.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators related to service, inventory, labor, and cost.

Financial & Operational Excellence
- Manage operating budgets, labor costs, equipment utilization, maintenance spending, and other controllable expenses.
- Partner with Finance to evaluate operational performance and capital investment opportunities.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, and cost reduction.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Supply Chain, Customer Service, Sales, Logistics, Finance, and IT teams to resolve operational challenges.
- Support the effective utilization of ERP and warehouse management technologies.

Qualifikationen

Required
- Significant leadership experience overseeing multiple distribution, warehouse, manufacturing, or fulfillment facilities.
- Proven experience supporting major big-box retail customers.
- Strong understanding of retailer compliance requirements, routing guides, labeling, packaging, fulfillment, and on-time delivery metrics.
- Demonstrated success managing labor, inventory, productivity, and operational budgets.
- Strong people leadership and organizational development capabilities.

Preferred
- Experience within consumer products, home improvement, lawn and garden, building products, hardware, or related industries.
- Experience with ERP and warehouse management systems.
- NetSuite experience is a plus.
