Senior Power BI & Microsoft Fabric Consultant

About the Engagement

We are seeking an experienced Power BI and Microsoft Fabric Consultant to support a six-month modernization programme of an established BI environment. The current platform operates on Microsoft Fabric F32 capacity and supports multiple Power BI Pro and PPU workspaces, entity reporting workspaces, and Power BI Apps. While the platform is stable and well adopted, it has grown organically over time and now requires a structured approach to governance, standardization, documentation, and lifecycle management.

The successful consultant will work closely with stakeholders across the business to assess the existing estate, establish governance frameworks, and implement best practices that improve scalability, usability, and operational efficiency. This is a hands-on role that combines strategic advisory responsibilities with practical delivery and implementation.

You will be responsible for embedding a robust BI governance model across the organisation, ensuring that all reports, workspaces, semantic models, and repositories have clear ownership and accountability. Working with business and technical stakeholders, you will help define standards and operating procedures that support the effective management of reporting assets and user access.

A key part of the engagement will be reviewing the existing BI landscape, identifying duplicate, redundant, and obsolete reports and models, and consolidating reporting solutions onto certified semantic models. The objective is to create a cleaner, more manageable reporting environment with a single source of truth across the organisation.

You will also lead the standardisation of report design and workspace management, introducing consistent templates and visual standards to improve the user experience while ensuring reporting remains aligned with organisational requirements. Alongside this, you will create clear documentation and reporting inventories, enabling administrators and key users to easily manage access requests, governance processes, and ongoing maintenance activities.

Experiencia requerida

We are looking for a consultant with strong hands-on experience in Power BI and Microsoft Fabric, combined with a proven track record of delivering BI governance and modernization initiatives within enterprise environments. You should have experience establishing governance frameworks, ownership structures, naming conventions, access management processes, and user documentation that support the effective management of business intelligence platforms.

You will be comfortable advising stakeholders on best practice across the full BI delivery lifecycle, from request intake and prioritisation through to development, deployment, adoption, and ongoing support. Experience with external Power BI tools such as VertiPaq Analyzer, ALM Toolkit, Tabular Editor, or similar administrative and optimisation tools is highly desirable.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in BI report lifecycle management, Power BI App and workspace administration, governance model design, enterprise reporting standards, and large-scale BI modernization projects. Most importantly, you will have the ability to combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, helping the organisation implement practical improvements while leveraging existing reports, templates, and assets.
