- Netsuite
Description
Supporting a growing finance function with expanding operational requirements, the NetSuite System Administrator will take a pivotal role in managing and optimising critical financial systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. This role exists to reduce manual interventions within finance processes, improve internal controls, and enable scalable growth through expert administration of NetSuite alongside associated platforms such as Tipalti. Working within a remote environment, this position focuses on delivering system improvements that underpin robust financial reporting and operational insights for a dynamic, mission-driven organisation in the not-for-profit sector.
The successful candidate will act as the interim subject matter expert for NetSuite and Tipalti, managing platform configuration, user roles, workflows, saved searches, and system integrations in close collaboration with IT and finance stakeholders. This role demands a hands-on approach to troubleshooting, streamlining process gaps, and designing scalable, automated solutions with an emphasis on leveraging native NetSuite capabilities supplemented by approved third-party tools. Maintaining secure role-based access controls and supporting system documentation form critical elements of governance responsibility.
Day-to-day activities centre on optimizing enterprise technology to reduce manual effort and strengthen controls throughout the finance function. This includes applying Controller-level finance and accounting expertise to improve system design and accelerate the month-end close process, ensuring financial records are accurate, reconciled, and audit-ready. The role also entails producing standardised, actionable management reporting that encompasses financial and operational metrics such as profitability by region, department, event, or programme, providing clear insight for decision-making.
Collaboration is key, with the NetSuite System Administrator liaising across multiple teams — including Finance, IT, and operational units such as Development Engagement and Stewardship Operations — to gather and translate business requirements into effective system solutions. Responsibilities extend to leading projects that support the organisation’s 2026 year-end audit cycle through preparation, testing, and training activities, as well as driving user adoption of new system functionalities.
Candidates will need proven experience administering NetSuite environments, encompassing system configuration, workflows, saved searches, and reporting, alongside managing integrations with platforms like Tipalti for accounts payable automation. A background in nonprofit finance and fund accounting, including restricted gifts and grants, is essential, given the specialist nature of financial workflows in this sector. Controller-level knowledge, ideally supported by CPA accreditation or equivalent, is critical for applying complex financial controls and internal audit readiness.
Preferred candidates will bring experience working with CRM or donor-management systems integration (such as Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT), payroll platforms like ADP, and have familiarity with ERP implementations or data migrations. Additionally, exposure to international or multi-currency finance operations will be advantageous for navigating the global aspects of the organisation's work.
This contract role is fully remote, with flexible working arrangements to accommodate the needs of the finance and IT functions. The appointment is interim, with an emphasis on delivering a comprehensive handoff of documentation, system configurations, and administration procedures to the permanent team to ensure continuity post-engagement.
In summary, this NetSuite System Administrator role is ideal for an accomplished financial systems professional seeking to make a tangible impact by driving process improvements, automation, and strengthened financial controls within a complex, mission-driven environment. The successful individual will blend solid technical acumen with finance sector expertise to support an organisation operating within the non-profit management industry.
