Lead the Technology Vision Behind a Global EdTech Platform
A fast-growing international technology company is looking for a hands-on CTO to lead the next phase of its product and AI journey.
The business has built a highly engaging digital learning platform used by millions of users, combining interactive content, gamification, AI-driven personalisation and human expertise. Following a successful expansion into new international markets, the company is investing heavily in its platform, AI capabilities, and engineering organisation. This is a rare opportunity to join a mission-driven product company where technology sits at the heart of the business strategy.
The Opportunity
The successful candidate will act as the bridge between senior leadership, product teams and software engineering, helping shape both technical direction and business outcomes. This is not a boardroom-only CTO role. The company is looking for someone who remains close to architecture, engineering decisions and emerging technologies, particularly within AI. You'll be expected to understand the trade-offs involved in building and scaling modern SaaS products while supporting and mentoring a growing engineering team. Initially, you will take ownership of the existing technical landscape before helping scale the Oslo engineering function over the coming months.
What You'll Be Doing
Defining and driving the technical vision and roadmap
Acting as the link between executives, product leadership and engineering teams
Leading software architecture decisions across platform, infrastructure and AI initiatives
Supporting and mentoring a distributed engineering organisation
Establishing engineering best practices, processes and technical standards
Working closely with product teams to balance business priorities with technical execution
Contributing to technology decisions in a hands-on capacity when required
Supporting the growth of the development team as the business expands
Evaluating and implementing new AI capabilities across the platform
Key Projects
Evolving a large-scale SaaS platform for the age of Agentic AI
Supporting significant international growth, including expansion into the US market
Building proprietary AI solutions that identify knowledge gaps and create personalised user journeys
Scaling platform performance, reliability and user engagement across millions of users
Technology Environment
The company currently works with:
Node.js & TypeScript
React
PostgreSQL
Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Python
AI technologies including LLM integrations, vector databases, LangChain and modern AI tooling
What They're Looking For
Strong background in software engineering with experience progressing into technical leadership
Proven experience shaping architecture and technology roadmaps for SaaS products
Experience working within startup or scale-up environments
Commercial awareness and an ability to align technology with business goals
Track record of building, mentoring and developing engineering teams
Experience working closely with product leadership and senior stakeholders
Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures and modern software delivery practices
A genuine interest in AI and its practical application within software products
Why Join?
High-impact leadership role with significant influence over product direction
Work on a platform with millions of users and ambitious global growth plans
Opportunity to shape AI-powered products from the ground up
Broad technical challenges spanning SaaS, platform engineering, AI and product development
Small, highly collaborative environment where decisions can be made quickly
Mission-driven company using technology to improve educational outcomes at scale
This role would suit a technically strong engineering leader, Head of Engineering or CTO who still enjoys being close to architecture and technology, whilst helping guide a growing product organisation through its next phase of growth.
