Our Sustainability Matters journey

We recognize the threat of climate change to everyone’s future and the need for purposeful action. And so, in 2021, we created Sustainability Matters to formalize our sustainability strategy and appointed our first Global Sustainability Strategy Lead.

We want to be an environmentally conscious business and are committed to continuously improving the environmental performance of our operations. We are doing this by taking immediate action on our greenhouse gas emissions, conserving natural resources where possible, and promoting sustainable business practices.

We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and adopting a more sustainable approach across our business worldwide. We know it will be challenging and there is a lot of work to do, but we are ready to rise to the challenge.

Our approach

We set up a People & Planet working group to ensure we strategically embed climate change considerations into all aspects of our organization and we do this through the following:

United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

Climate Action is one of our priorities and we are aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 13 – Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.

Company policies and awareness

We are integrating sustainability measures into our policies and business strategy, and raising awareness with our employees on how they can take positive action.

Environmental KPIs

We lease more than 20 offices on four continents. Many of our environmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are measured by our landlords and leasing companies, and we work collaboratively with these third parties to gather information on our energy, water, and waste output.

We recognize the complex relationship between the environment, our social responsibilities and the global economy, and strive to make a tangible impact through our new People & Planet program, which brings together our sustainability, diversity, and wellbeing initiatives.

Environmental impact

Based on findings from our greenhouse gas inventory and operational review, we are focusing on four key areas:

Business travel and commuting

We are minimizing travel and associated GHG emissions by prioritizing lower carbon alternative methods of travel, with video and virtual meetings now part of our daily working practice.

Purchased goods, services and products

We are working with our supply chain globally on improving efficiencies and reducing our environmental impact.

Increasing renewable energy sourcing

We aim to increase our annual sourcing of electricity to 100% renewable energy.

Disposal of waste from our offices

Our day-to-day waste from business operations is minimal. Our current focus is on raising awareness among our workforce on how to reduce waste and improve recycling.

Our sustainability commitments

In 2022, we worked with carbon accounting platform Greenly to capture our carbon footprint. This formed our baseline year for reporting on greenhouse gas emissions and we are currently working on our internal emissions reduction targets.
We have formally committed to set near-term and net zero, company-wide emissions reductions in line with the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) - a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
To support our progress towards setting science-based emissions reduction targets, we were part of the 2023 cohort of the UN Climate Ambition Accelerator program.
We are in the process of developing our carbon reduction plan and targets, which will be submitted for validation in 2024.
Tenth Revolution Group is part of the We Mean Business Coalition and Race to Zero campaign, supporting our transition to net zero while maintaining sustainable growth.

How we measure progress

Climate action can’t wait. Regulations are on the rise and society now expects companies like ours to reduce their negative impact on the environment.

As we continue on our journey towards a sustainable future, we understand that transparency is key, as it enables us to stay accountable for our progress. We do this in a number of ways:

Environment, Social, Governance (ESG) reporting

Monitoring and reporting on our ESG helps to shape our sustainability goals at Tenth Revolution Group and ensures we keep on track.

In preparation for future reporting and to support the shared ambitions of our partners and customers, we are working towards voluntary reporting.

SECR framework and ESOS

We report on our scope 1 and 2 and selected scope 3 through the Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) framework and Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS).

Internal targets

We have set internal targets to track progress towards our goals and share details of our progress with Tenth Revolution Group’s People & Planet working group. Once we have these targets validated by SBTi, we will share them publicly and report on them annually.

Benchmarking

We benchmark ourselves through industry-recognized bodies, including EcoVadis Sustainability Ratings and the UN Global Compact Communication on Progress.

Sustainability Matters
